Revlog: Insurgent and the FBI at EvilVlog
Posted on January 18th, 2006 at 6:24 pm by Markus

My friend Josh Wolf has posted an amazing entry at EvilVlog about his Federal subpoena and the possible shutdown of one of his websites.  "This is what a police state looks like!"

I admire Josh a great deal and can’t think of a better person to get some of their time. Josh’s statement should prove interesting, although we may never know as these investigations are often closed to the general public and the transcripts sealed.

Quartz Composer Test
Posted on January 18th, 2006 at 3:59 pm by Markus

CarpFlowLgThis is just a test to see how a Quartz Composer QuickTime export looks and is handled in browsers and aggregators.  There is no audio and you need QuickTime7 on Tiger to view this, so don’t fret if you have trouble with this.  It’s just all us Mac users leaving you in the dust.  Go back to sleep…

Ok, ok.  Here is a screen capture that all can see.  It has audio and a live image capture.  Unfortunately, the export to QuickTime loses the image capture and a white box appears in it’s place.  Thus, in order to distribute a file that incorporates the user’s webcam, it is necessary to distribute the movie as a Quartz .qtz file.  These are now playable in QuickTime7, but most browsers and aggregators don’t know what to do with the file.

Don’t worry, I’m not converting to QT7 just yet.  This is just an experiment.  Ah, ah, ah.  Don’t touch that feed!

MacWorld Wine Tasting
Posted on January 14th, 2006 at 10:40 pm by Markus

We stopped by a wine bar for a demonstration of VideoEgg’s blogging software. I was blown away by the high-tech wine dispensors. Guess I don’t get to the big city enough these days. They also make you pay for your parking before you get your car these days, but that’s another story. Click the pic to view the vid.
